Bring Automotive Dealerships Into The 21St Century

June 28, 2010 Autos

Been involved with automotive business for the past 7 years I have encountered numerous computer programs, CRM softwares, DMS platforms, what ever you like to call them, these poorly developed software sometimes are older than me. It is unbelievable to me a dealership is willing to pay as much as $4000 per month using these outdated softwares that was developed along with Window 3.1. I understand it is a good idea to improve your business but if this process is not done correctly. It can hurt your business dramatically.

Just today I got introduced to another “great product” from a big name provider in automotive data processing ( I am not going to mention any names here ). The man was nice enough to introduce me to their latest CRM development, but I truly felt sorry for him trying to train me to use a software that is poorly designed and build right from the start. I didn’t want to complaint about the ridiculous nature of the software, and how unintuitive and how unproductive this can really do to us. I understand selling cars is a straight forward business, and there is no science to this process. The simple formula should be nice to your customers, and sell your product at a competitive price, and with little hard work and persistence you should have a winner on your hand.

But the feedback I have been getting in the past few years are the sales managers (especially the ones with lack of education and understanding of technology) all seems to be blown away by the technology that was invented in the late 80’s. They actually believe by buying into these softwares it can help their business process. The high monthly spending is justified because the extra profit they can potentially make. But you can not invent something out of nothing, by over complicating your business process and add redundancy to your daily operation. Is not only counter productive, it is against human evolution.

The poorly designed products have virtually no user testing it seems, with layout a complete mess, and process completely redundant. Not to mention the database scheme was based on the first generation “flat filing” system that was invented in the late 60’s. At Dealer Elite CRM we truly believe the principle of “KISS” or “keep it simple stupid”. We believe an intuitive design and simple process can actually help you in your sales process. Because it will be user friendly, and require minimum amount of training. And get rid of all the unnecessary data fields to keep data integrity in check.

We don’t believe in all the hype of the acronyms such as DMS, or CRM, we sell our product based on its simplicity and usefulness. Don’t be fooled into paying another “installation fee” or “setup fee” that is in the neighbourhood of $10,000, and stop paying for any CRM or DMS system that can cost you more than $1000 per month.
